The others.
Man, Grace is so clever. Yesterday at dinner time, I was feeding her in her high chair. I gave her the lid of her food container to play with, and I was holding the other part. She reached out with the lid and put it on the container! I gave it back to her, and she did it another three times. What a legend!
This morning I went for another 40 minute walk... unfortunately I did it when I was already exhausted after not getting much sleep last night (entirely my fault, by the way. I think I should start going to bed at a reasonable hour, even if I'm not tired at the time). So by the time I got back, I was really, really feeling it, but stupidly, I put Grace to bed and did massive amounts of housework. And all the while, I was feeling as if I were about to faint. I made it through, and had a two-hour nap this afternoon, but man, I have learnt my lesson.
And now for Wednesday Wonders: Oh my goodness, I'd done the whole meme before realising that it hasn't been updated since April! Oh well, here's my response, seven months late!

Proverbs 3:11-12 Click on verse to read.
1. When bad things happen in your life do you think of it as discipline?
I have to admit, not really. With little things I do, like if I'm rushing to get somewhere and get all red lights on the way, I think 'God's really trying to teach me a lesson in patience today!' And He may well be, but I'm sure He tries to teach me other life lessons too, that I don't necessarily pick up on.
2. Does it feel like love at the time?
I try to think of it that way, but at first my irrational brain just tells me that God's angry at me or something.
3. I'm sure that sometimes our children wonder why they get a spanking or yelled at for something, but many times they know that they are still loved. Sometimes those seemingly bad things that happen in your life are the Lord's discipline. Does it feel like love?
I've been learning alot about discipline lately, as Grace is reaching an age where she knows when she's doing something wrong. But the things I discipline her for are all things that will help her, and keep her from being hurt. Like when she tries to take her shoes off (I put them on when we go out), because if she continues to do that when she starts walking, she could stand on glass and cut her foot. I also try to teach her lessons about respect for other people's property, etc. But although it doesn't always feel like love at the time, I need to think of those things in the way I want Grace to see them, as disciplines for her own wellbeing and safety, all because I love her and want the best for her.
Okay, well here is another meme. Keeping with the whole not-doing-it-at-the-right-time thing I have going, I'm responding to Monday Madness. Presumeably because I live in Australia and most of the internet world doesn't, the Wednesday memes aren't up yet even though it's 5pm here. And the Tuesday ones were mostly about Thanksgiving, which although I'm a fan of, we don't celebrate down here in the Great South Land. So yes, Monday Madness it is.
